What is the route of the Maratón de Roma 2027

The Rome Marathon offers one of the most spectacular marathon courses in the world, combining history, culture and sport through the heart of Italy's capital. The race starts beside the iconic Colosseum, where runners begin an unforgettable journey through the city's historic center.

The course passes world-famous landmarks including the Circus Maximus, Piazza Venezia, Castel Sant'Angelo, St. Peter's Basilica and several bridges crossing the Tiber River. The profile is mostly flat, but the extensive cobblestone sections and numerous turns make maintaining a steady pace more challenging than on many other major marathons.

During the second half of the race, runners continue through some of Rome's most iconic districts, alternating between wide boulevards and historic streets. Although the elevation gain is minimal, the uneven surface and constantly changing scenery make the Rome Marathon a race where pacing and energy management are especially important.

The final kilometers return to the historic center before reaching a spectacular finish beside the Colosseum, one of the world's most recognizable monuments. Crossing the finish line surrounded by more than two thousand years of history makes the Rome Marathon an unforgettable experience for every runner.
