What is the route of the Hyundai Media Maratón de Barcelona by Brooks 2027
The Barcelona Half Marathon features one of the fastest and most popular half marathon courses in Europe, designed for quick times and personal bests. The race starts on Passeig Picasso, next to Parc de la Ciutadella, with slightly crowded but mostly flat opening kilometers before reaching the gradual climb through Paral·lel, Ronda Sant Pau and Sepúlveda, the section with the most elevation gain of the entire race.
After leaving the Gran Via area behind, the course becomes much faster and smoother. The long straights along Gran Via, Bailén, Pallars and Llacuna allow runners to settle into race pace while running through some of Barcelona’s widest avenues. Between kilometers 8 and 13, the route crosses Sant Martí and Poblenou, combining flat sections with only a few gentle inclines that barely affect rhythm.
One of the most characteristic sections arrives around Diagonal Mar, between kilometers 13 and 17. Here runners face a long out-and-back section with an added loop through Poblenou, where wind and the repetitive layout can become mentally challenging. Even so, the profile remains very fast and many runners use this area to maintain a strong, steady pace before the final seaside kilometers.
The final part of the race follows Barcelona’s coastline along Passeig Garcia Faria and Marina, a quick stretch that can also be exposed to coastal wind. After a short climb near kilometer 18 and the final push along Marina, the race finishes on the Pujades finishing straight beside Parc de la Ciutadella, delivering a fast and exciting finish perfect for a final sprint.
