The Barcelona Marathon features one of the fastest and most scenic marathon courses in Europe, combining a very flat profile with some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The race starts on Passeig de Gràcia, next to Plaça Catalunya, with a wide and fast opening section ideal for settling into pace early.
During the first half of the race, runners pass famous locations such as the Sagrada Família, Gran Via, Arc de Triomf and Estació de França, with long avenues and smooth sections perfect for maintaining a consistent rhythm.
One of the highlights comes along Barcelona’s seafront, with several kilometres next to the Mediterranean passing through areas like the Port Olímpic and the city’s beachfront promenade. The course remains almost completely flat, making it one of the best marathons in Spain for achieving a personal best.
In the final kilometres, the marathon heads back towards the city centre passing landmarks such as Torre Glòries and Plaça Catalunya before the final push to the finish line. The atmosphere at the finish, with thousands of spectators cheering, makes for an unforgettable ending.
