What is the route of the Wizz Air Milano Marathon 2027

Map showing the race route

The Milan Marathon features one of the fastest marathon courses in Italy, designed to help runners maintain a steady pace from start to finish. The race begins in the iconic Piazza del Duomo, right in the heart of Milan, before following wide boulevards and historic streets through both the city's famous landmarks and modern districts on an almost completely flat, World Athletics-certified course.

Throughout the first half, runners pass some of Milan's most recognizable attractions, including Castello Sforzesco, the modern CityLife district and the beautiful Parco Sempione. Long straights, smooth asphalt and wide turns create excellent conditions for maintaining an even pace, making the course ideal for both first-time marathoners and experienced runners chasing a personal best.

The second half continues through the eastern and southern areas of Milan before gradually returning toward the historic city center. Although the urban layout includes several turns, elevation remains minimal throughout the race, placing the emphasis on pacing strategy and endurance rather than climbing ability.

The final kilometers lead runners back to the city center, where spectator support becomes increasingly lively. Crossing the finish line in the magnificent Piazza del Duomo, beneath Milan's famous cathedral, provides one of the most memorable marathon finishes in Europe and the perfect setting for a strong final sprint.
