About Empúries Marathon
The Empúries Marathon is a marathon race (42.195 km) held annually in L’Escala and Sant Martí d’Empúries (Girona, Catalonia), organized by the L’Escala City Council with the support of the Catalan Athletics Federation. The flat and scenic route starts and finishes at the Empúries Archaeological Museum, a historical site where Greek and Roman remains intertwine. In addition to the marathon, the event includes more accessible options such as a half marathon, 10 km and 5 km races, and children's races, allowing both experienced and amateur runners to enjoy a day of sport in a unique cultural and scenic setting.
