What is the route of the Almagro Marathon
The race starts on Avenida de la Música with an initial lap of about 816 metres. Runners then complete 14 laps of a 2,960-metre triangle made up of Almagro's Eco vía greenway and Joaquín Rodrigo and Avenida de la Música streets.
The circuit is completely flat and on asphalt. Each lap (about 3 km) has a solid and liquid aid station where runners can also leave their own nutrition. The time limit is 6 hours.
These details come from the 8th edition (2026) regulations; the organisers usually keep the same circuit, but check the 2027 rules once they're published.

Where to stay for the Almagro Marathon
Almagro's historic centre, around the Plaza Mayor and the Corral de Comedias, is the best place to stay: it's close to the start/finish area and has a good choice of rural houses, hotels and the Parador.
If you can't find a room, Ciudad Real, about 25 km away, has many more hotels and a direct road connection.
Getting there from the airport for the Almagro Marathon
The most convenient airport is Madrid-Barajas. From Madrid, the AVE high-speed train reaches Ciudad Real in about an hour.
From Ciudad Real to Almagro it's about 25 km, roughly 20-25 minutes by car; Almagro also has a regional train station.

About Almagro Marathon
The Almagro Marathon is one of the first marathons on the Spanish calendar, held in late January in the town famous for its Corral de Comedias theatre, in the Campo de Calatrava region (Ciudad Real). Organised by the Kilómetro Cero club with Almagro Town Council, it reaches its 9th edition in 2027.
Its main appeal is a completely flat asphalt circuit, ideal for chasing a time or adding a winter marathon with little elevation. As well as the individual race, you can run it as a two-person relay (mixed teams allowed), each member covering a half marathon.
It's a friendly, small-scale race with an aid station on every lap, showers afterwards and a finisher T-shirt or sweatshirt for everyone, perfect for marathon collectors or anyone looking for a first experience at the distance.
