What is the route of the Greenways Marathon
The Marató Vies Verdes route runs entirely along the old Carrilet railway line, which once connected Girona to the coast and is now a converted greenway. The 42K distance starts in Girona and crosses seven towns on its way to the coast.
The course passes through Quart, Llambilles, Cassà de la Selva, Llagostera, Santa Cristina d'Aro and Castell d'Aro before finishing in Platja d'Aro, retracing the historic mountain-to-sea path of the old railway.
The circuit mixes compacted dirt paths with some paved stretches — around 80% of the route is natural trail — crossing rural and wooded landscapes that change character completely as the race nears the coastline.

On April 26, 2026, runners of all levels can challenge themselves with distances of 42 km, 30 km, 21 km, or 10 km, traversing rural and natural landscapes, from the mountains to the sea.
